In the late 1980s, he took part in the Architecture course at UFRJ, but decided to dedicate his studies to painting, moving to the USA and studying at the School of Visual Arts, in New York and at California College of the Arts, in Oakland. .

Geraldo has worked with several languages ​​such as painting, printmaking, installation and video. Professor of Art History at MAC-Niterói, he integrated two important urban intervention projects in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo: Atrocidades Maravilhosas (1999-2000) and Tupinambá Lambido (2016-2018). Both brought a political attitude of making art independent of institutions, designed to question and change the urban landscape.

In the painting, Marcolini also brings this reflection on the city, whether in its reticulated landscapes of previous years or in his more recent paintings, in which the pools and the reflection areas capture a striking moment. They are emptied images of the subject, but they bring marks or indications of his previous presence. Regarding the formal aspects of his production, the influence of architecture is indisputable, both in the composition of plans and in research on the relationship between the individual and space.
